Bureau Bordeaux is a design studio from Hannover, Germany. Driven by a passion for relevant content and precise design, we create identities, books, magazines and digital experiences. The studio was founded in 2015 and is led by graphic designers Daniel Barth, Benjamin Behrendt and Thimm Bubbel. In dialogue, we develop sustainable design strategies with a cultural value.
Our work starts with a clear message. Or with an inscrutable flood of information. To give the right surface to a request, we take a look into the depth. We approach the core of the matter and prioritize the concerns of our project partners. Who should be adressed? How do communicators want to be perceived? What is the most important content? In the beginning there is a clear message. In the end, bespoke media with atmosphere and high aesthetic standards are created.
Design influences the way we look at things and how we perceive our environment. It can form identities, trigger emotions and question our viewing habits. We see ourselves as designers in a broader sense and as cultural workers aiming to contribute to a social discourse in various projects. For example with the podcast "Graustufen" and the "WortLaut Festival".
We believe in the creative potential of an open dialogue. As we consider our clients to be an essential part of the team, our biggest concern for every project is to create an environment of trust and communication as the initiator of an inspiring collaboration.
With empathy and a strong sensitivity to the brands needs and the individuals behind it, as designers we see ourselves in the role of a process companion who is able to open up new perspectives and incite unexpected paths. We want to encourage our project partners to be open minded - for a process of change and the possible opportunities comming along with it. In this way, we jointly create the basis for the development of sustainably working concepts and a precisely fitting visual language.
No project is like the other. Nevertheless, we try to use our process standards to pre-structure work processes and keep them simple. These are generally divided into four core phases:
1. Together we probe the initial situation, examine what is already there, analyze wishes and fears and work out the actual needs and requirements of the project.
2. We widen our view and develop a vision of how the result could look and feel like. In doing so, we sharpen the idea piece by piece to a coherent concept.
3. In the first drafts the common vision begins to materialize. In close exchange, we work out the clear visual and formal language. We take care of the form and content creation, text- and image editing and develop the overall concept.
4. Only when the entire team identifies with the collective result, we start working out the details and complete the individual designs. We take care of the handling and support right through to the finished product and beyond.
