2025
In the context of the medieval artefacts with World Heritage status, the exhibition presents contemporary artistic positions that engage with Christian beliefs, religious imagery, and the Church as an institution. Among the featured works are pieces by Joseph Beuys, Niki de Saint Phalle, Lucio Fontana, Andy Warhol, and the artist duo Gilbert & George. The works open up new, at times critical perspectives that aim to encourage further discussion. Since its reopening in 2015, contemporary art has formed a permanent part of the Dommuseum’s curatorial programme. Thanks to its close proximity to the Hall Art Foundation at Schloss Derneburg, the museum is able to show works from one of the most significant collections of modern art worldwide. The dialogue between contemporary art and the historical, at times critically examined context shaped the exhibition concept. In addition to a poster, flyers, and invitation cards, we developed the graphic design of the exhibition, including information panels and wall texts. The goal was to create a visual language that does not overpower the space and supports the exhibition works.
