Every year, the forest authority of North Rhine-Westphalia publishes a 110 pages strong report on how the numerous forests of the state have developed over the last year. The report gathers the most important facts in terms of sustainability, growth and economics. With its almost 100.000 hectares of forest, the states report is one of the most important data source for the whole country. Since 2019 we are responsible for the editorial handling, art direction and production of the publication. Together with an interdisciplinary team of journalists, photographers and researchers we curate and design every issue from the very first sketch to a solid and sustainable printed magazine.



The year 2019 shows that the hot summer of 2018 and the associated effects on the forest are not a one-off crisis event, but show a new normality.

The 2020 edition of the NRW Forest and Wood Sustainability Report illustrates this development and shows strategies and ways of dealing with the "turn of an era in the forest".
